Jason Wu Collection Comes To Target

Hello My Dears,

So this morning I was listening to Ian and Margery on My talk 107.1, they happened to mention that Jason Wu will be having a collection at Target Launching 02/05/2012. For those of you who don't know the name he designed Michelle Obama's Dress that she wore to the inauguration ball. The collection looks awesome, there are a couple pieces that I may have on my wish list.

We've met Milu the cat, and seen a glimpse of the ad campaign. But now, at long last, Target has released images of the full Jason Wu for Target collection.
The lookbook reveals an uncompromisingly demure offering with plenty of dresses, high collars and tailored shorts.
Highlights include striped Sixties-inspired shifts and Fifties-style full-skirted frocks with a glimpse of petticoat in a contrasting colour.

Handbags also play an important role in the line, with formal, boxy shapes in a cream woven fabric, floral-print satchels and canvas totes.

In a press release today, the retailer said the cut-price collection had been inspired by 'the vision of an American girl in Paris'.

French flair: Inspired by the idea of an American girl in Paris, Mr Wu has focused on classic silhouettes that have been styled for the lookbookin a quirky geek-chic way
The new images are sure to heighten anticipation for the collaboration, which follows in the footsteps of designer partnerships with Missoni and Gwen Stefani.
Since Target's collaboration with the First Lady favourite was announced last year, the fashion set have been counting down to its launch on February 5.
And with prices ranging from just $19.99 to 59.99, it promises to offer something for every budget.

Prints charming: The collection is sure to be a hit with Michelle Obama, who made Mr Wu a household name
Last week, the first campaign image for the collection was unveiled. It shows a model wearing a pale pink, yellow and black dress surrounded by co-ordinating ribbons in chaotic twirls across the frame thanks to Milu the cat, who the designer says was his muse for the line.
The collection is sure to be a hit with Michelle Obama, who made him a household name after Mr Wu designed a gown for her to wear for an inaugural ball in 2009.

And though she usually favours expensive designer labels, she has on occasion been seen wearing H&M and J Crew - and of course has even been spotted shopping at Target.

The collaboration is a major coup for the 29-year-old designer, who is of Taiwanese origin, but is based in the U.S.
Though he is already a well-known name, the association with Target promises to make his star rise higher still.
In an interview with WWD, he explained: 'This partnership offers an exciting opportunity for me to interpret my aesthetic into a collection made for a broader market.

'It was very interesting for me to translate my signature touches into a more affordable collection without compromising quality, design and sophistication.'

He added that versatility was key when coming up with each design.
'[The collection] features clothes and accessories that are easily convertible from day to evening — sophisticated, feminine dresses, mix-and-match separates and playful accessories all with a bit of charm and dressed-up attitude,' he said.
Jason Wu for Target will be available from February 5 until March 6, with prices ranging from $19.99 to $59.99. For more details visit Target.com
