Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

As you all know I am always looking for ways to save a buck. So when my pores got a little cloggy I was off to my local Target to stare at the array of products to cleanse and de-clog the pores. Summer is almost on us and we all know that with the sweating, sunscreen, makeup and other miscellanous stuff floating around that gets on our skin we need a deep (cheap) way of cleaning ourselves up.

So I went with the Biore Facial Strip combo-pack, It has the face and nose strips.

Product Information:

Two different strips (for your face and nose) instantly remove pore-clogging dirt, oil and blackheads from all your problem areas. In just one use, these strips are twice as effective as the leading pore cleanser at getting rid of pore-clogging build-up and blackheads. Helps reduce the appearance of pores with regular use.
  • Oil-free
Fun Fact:

  • Clogged pores look bigger, and the stuff inside a pore can actually stretch it.

  • When the stuff in your pores gets exposed to air, it darkens, making pores look even bigger — which is why you want to be sure to keep them clean.

  • What gets in pores? Usually dead skin cells, sebum (lipids, oils), and bacteria.

  • How To Use:

    1. Remove strip from pouch. Before using nose strips, twist strip to loosen and separate slits featured on nose strips only.
    2. After washing your face, thoroughly wet your nose or other face area (where you have clogged pores or blackheads). The strip won't stick on a dry nose.
    3. Dry hands. Peel strip off plastic liner. Apply to nose area, smooth side down, pressing down to ensure good contact with skin.
    4. Let dry for about 10-15 minutes until stiff to the touch—like papier-mâché.
    5. Slowly and carefully peel off starting at edges, pulling toward center.
For best results, do not use more often than once every three days.

    Overall:

I liked it, I love the price runs between $8-$10 at any drug store. It allows you to have a deep cleaning without having to break your budget. The one issue I had is when pulling the strips off they hurt just a little bit.

    Movie Review : Soul Surfer

When you come back from a loss, beat the odds, and never say never, you find a champion.

A teenage surfer girl summons the courage to go back into the ocean after losing an arm in a shark attack.

Thoughts:  This movie is about Faith, Courage and the Will to overcome the odds. The movie documents what happens to a teenage girl after she is attacked by a shark doing what she loves. It shows that through Faith , her and her family are able to overcome the obstacle of her losing her arm. It shows this young girl learning what she can do through Christ, it also shows her developing in her faith. We see this girl get back on her board and learn to do what she loves in a different way.

I think this is a movie worth seeing , we all need to learn what can be done if we have Faith, Courage and Perseverance

    Philosophy Foundation Review

As promised I am about to lay my thoughts on you about the foundation I wore yesterday.

Okay so here is what the product website has to say about it:

    Supernatural Superbeautiful - Good-For-Skin Makeup SPF 20

    Supernatural Superbeautiful - Good-For-Skin Makeup SPF 20

    What it is:
A super-healthy, hybrid makeup with SPF 20 that delivers sheer color, moisture, and protection in one step.

    What it does:

The supernatural superbeautiful is a super-healthy, hybrid makeup created for the woman who needs an easy-to-apply, get-out-the-door makeup. Philosophy's new hybrid alternative to traditional liquid makeup uses pure, natural color in a skin-loving, water-based formula that won't pollute your pores and is as good for your skin as any skincare product. The healthy, good-for-your-skin formula is infused with natural, plant-based moisturizers, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and naturally sourced SPF 20 UVA/UVB protection. The supernatural superbeautiful provides natural-looking coverage and a healthy, radiant finish that looks like great skin, not makeup.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens
    - Phthalates
    - Sulfates
    - Synthetic Fragrances

Well as you all know I am looking for the perfect foundation to make me runway ready everyday... We seem to be getting closer this is what it says it is healthy makeup

    Likes:

---Even though it is liquid it has a thick consistency which is a plus (because how many times ladies have you gotten foundation on your shirt?)

---The color matches skin very well it blends right in cant tell the difference ( emm not say any names but I just spotted a picture of a celebrity recently and we all could tell where the difference between her foundation)

---The finish is satin like, very smooth and silky and long lasting

---Application with brush makes the foundation go on  a lot more full coverage

---The lack of that waxy smell (I see you nodding )

--- I like that it has SPF because with the summer coming we will be doing a lot of running around

Here is my freshly washed (me and my goofy grin)

Thick and Creamy , I had my hand tilted and it didn't run down at all (amazing)

    Dislikes:

---The Price - its $30.00 plus tax

---At the end of the day I was shiny (but that could be because I didn't have powder on) must try again and update

Overall I didn't have that many dislikes about with this particular product I would recommend this to someone looking for fuller coverage...

    Let's Talk Manicures

As you know I am a great believer in doing it yourself but if you can't and go to a salon. Knowledge is power. So before you go, this is what you need to know and be aware of:

    1. They don't turn customers away

    2. They swap and dilute bottles: (nail polish/creams/lotions) yes this happens ladies

    3. Just because there is no blood, doesn't mean you haven't been cut

    4. All costs are not included

    5. They aren't  (always) talking about you

    6. Not all disinfecting solutions are 100 percent effective (your jaws have probably dropped to the floor on this one)

Ladies,I may be harping on it cause summer is coming up but my motto is better safe than sorry.

    No Shoes, No Problem

As you all know spring is here, for those of us who live in frozen tundras that means the return of tank tops, shorts and the opened toe shoe..

Well ladies before you bust out the cute wedges, let's make sure that your feet are in opened toe shoe wearing shoe condition.

First of all let's talk pedicure:  if you can't do it yourself get one, after months of socks & boots and cold weather your feet are going to need some TLC...

If you are going to be getting your pedicure done somewhere this is what you need to know:

    1. Bring Your Own Instruments

This will help decrease the risk of catching viruses, bacteria and fungus. Things to bring include: nail nipper, cuticle nipper, cuticle pusher and curette cleaner.

    2. Ask About Instrument Cleaning

Does the salon sterilize their instruments or do they just disinfect? Sterilization of instruments by autoclaving is the better choice

    3. Ask What Type of Foot Bath is Used

Usually the whirlpool foot bath is either piped or pipe-free. It is thought that pipe-free is better because piped whirlpool foot baths have been found to contain bacteria in their pipes, jets and water filtration systems. The pipe-free whirlpool foot baths can easily be removed for cleaning. If the foot bath uses a liner, make sure that a new liner is being used each time.

    4. Ask If Disposable Items Are Used Only Once

Items such as nail files, foot files, buffers and toe separators should be used only once. You may want to consider bringing your own disposable items with you.

    5. Make Sure Technician's Hands Are Clean

The nail technician should wash their hands in between clients. If they do not wash their hands, request that they do or that they wear gloves. Be cautious of a technician with fake (artificial) fingernails. It is hard to clean the area between the fake fingernail and the real fingernail.

    6. Ask If the Salon and Technician Are Licensed

The salon and technician should both be licensed by their state governing board. Usually the board of cosmetology. The licenses should be clearly displayed at the salon.

    7. Don't Shave Legs 24 Hours Before Appointment

Nicks and cuts from shaving create small openings in the skin where bacteria can enter. If you have any open sores, wait until they heal before getting a pedicure.

    8. Tell Technician Your Medical Conditions and Medications

Certain medical conditions and medications can increase the risk of infection. Examples include: diabetes, lymphedema, peripheral vascular disease (PVD), neuropathy, HIV and autoimmune diseases like lupus. Examples of medications include: chemotherapy agents and blood thinners such as coumadin.

    9. Check If the Salon is Clean

The salon itself should be clean and well kept. This is usually a good indicator of how well they take care of their instruments and other salon equipment.

    10. You Should Have No Pain

Getting a pedicure at the salon should not be a painful experience. Just like any business, there are good salons and not so good salons. Find a pedicure salon that follows strict sterilization procedures and find a technician who does not cause pain or bleeding.
